The English Foundation Program Objectives
The English Foundation Program is an ideal option for AIU degree-seeking students. The English Foundation Program consists of courses in three main English skill areas: Grammar and Writing, Listening and Speaking, and Reading and Vocabulary skills. Through weekly scheduled courses, students have the opportunity to:
- Develop academic language skills needed to complete AIU courses.
- Enhance academic reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, vocabulary skills, and study skills necessary for success in college-level courses.
- Read and understand a variety of scholarly materials and learn how to increase the ability to analyze information for comprehension.
- Become accustomed to an American academic environment, with the goal of successfully transitioning into a university-level degree program.
- Improve oral communication skills needed to communicate effectively with classmates and faculty in group discussions and presentations.
- Pronounce standard American English for both production and comprehension purposes.
- To participate in all facets of AIU student life and meet with academic advisors to successfully transition to university-level courses.
