AIU strives to be the beacon of culture, art and learning in Kuwait. Hosting talented artists from around the world offers our students and community the opportunity to interact and engage with award-winning visionaries cementing our position in the region as a center for sophistication and refinement.
AIU is proud to announce that the campus will be hosting ‘At the Violet Hour’ by world-renowned artists Kate Daudy and Kostya Novoselov this month. ‘At the Violet Hour’ is a three-part series of art installations that include, The Evolution Project, which will be open to the public following a special VIP viewing.
Launched in Autumn 2021, The Evolution Project is the first NFT collaboration between internationally acclaimed British artist Kate Daudy and Nobel Prize-winning physicist and artist Kostya Novoselov. The NFT series is an extension of their ongoing art and science project, EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED.
The project initially builds upon Daudy’s long-established ‘trees’ series. The new artwork takes Daudy’s collage methods and materials into the digital space. The visual DNA of her physical trees has been identified, codified, and incorporated into new NFT artwork. Critically, the digital works retain the DNA structure from their creation, which is partially passed on to a future generation of new “seedling” NFTs. The Evolution Project allows trees created as NFTs to become generative artworks, growing, with each new generation, from the simple, meaningful messages of Daudy's original trees.
The NFTs were designed to connect the digital and real worlds through charitable donations. The incorporation of smart contract technology allows direct financial contributions from the sale of current and future digital artwork. For the first iteration of their project, the artists chose the Malala Fund, an organization that works to create a more equal world by making sure that all girls can go to school.
