The SCAD Student Experience

American International College Kuwait

Sisters Ghadeer and Aseel Al Enzi, both students in the School of Architecture and Design, tell us about their experiences studying Interior Design at AIU.

The mission of AIU's School of Design is to educate its students and the public in the creation and appreciation of art and design, to discover and transmit knowledge, and to make lasting contributions to a global society through critical thinking, scholarship and innovation.

Here's what they had to say about their time at AIU:

Aseel Al Enzi

Since being at AIU I have learned to be independent and to think for myself.  Having to complete many projects taught me to manage my time and get things done by myself and I am so happy with everything that I have done while studying here.”

Ghadeer Al Enzi

“AIU has provided me the opportunity to express my creativity and to prosper and grow as an artist.  The encouragement we receive here from our professors is amazing.  The faculty at AIU is experienced, dedicated, and nurturing.

After graduating I hope to go on to earn my MA and my PHD and eventually become a professor of Art.”

The sisters also shared some of their project models created as part of their coursework:

Aseel Al Enzi

This project is about to work as a group on a student work "Haya" which it was outdoor bench. The project was about to be creative and to solve some issues on her bench because it was floating so I decided to put a foot on the chair so that people could bear to sit on it.”

Ghadeer Al Enzi

"This project is about to design an outdoor bench, so I was inspired by the hibiscus flower. The circle that goes from the center of the chair creates the look and feel of a Hibiscus flower in full bloom so I will put a tree in it. The material would be a wood because my concept is to use natural materials and to design natural shapes."

Degree programs at the School of Architecture and Design are structured in a way that doesn't require students to be experts in art or design at the time of enrollment. Instead, these skills are developed and refined during the course of their program through an immersive hands-on learning experience. Each program, activity is aimed at enabling students to utilize their 'out-of-the-box' creativity.

We look forward to showcasing many more projects in the upcoming semester from our SCAD students!
